Cambodia! (To the border, and border crossing)

(finally) Time to update on Cambodia!

Martine, Mary and I left school right away on Friday afternoon on the 10th.  After a 6 hour (rather pleasant) bus trip, we were at a Thailand/Cambodia border town.  The border closed before we got there, like we knew it would, so we found a little 24 hour guesthouse to stay in.

We got a room with 2 bedrooms...not knowing that the beds would be this small:

Martine and I ended up sharing a bed that night.  Here she is illustrating my side of the bed, and her side of the bed.

I actually had a great night that night, but Martine on the other hand did not.

The next day we were up bright and early to go to the border.  We heard a lot about there being scams at the border, but other than some confusion/attempted scammery at the beginning of our border journey, everything went smoothly.  We had a Cambodian official help us cross, probably a service (we noticed) they offer to young women who may be more vulnerable to scams and harassment.

We ended up having him show us a good place to dance that night in Cambodia as well, which was a lot of fun.  Another thing we noticed was that Cambodians, unlike Thais, like to dance.

  2. I remember sleeping with you when you were little. You were a kicker! You also would move around so much that you would be sideways across the bed.

No doubt, Martine would not have had a good night in that small bed with you.
